Job summary

St. John’s University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Physician Assistant faculty member to join the Master of Science in Physician Assistant program.

The successful candidate would collaborate with PA colleagues and other disciplines, maintain clinical practice competence, and pursue scholarship and governance. The role involves recruitment and admissions activities, didactic and clinical instruction, student advisement, and service on university and program committees, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program.
• Master’s degree or higher in a field related to the PA profession.
• Current NCCPA Certification.
• Current New York State licensure.
• Minimum of three years of experience working in a clinical setting as a Physician Assistant.
• Interprofessional and/or simulation education experience is desirable.
• Strong organizational and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, time management and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a PA program preferred.
• Scholarship and active participation in professional organizations encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment, application review, interviewing and selection of PA program applicants.
• Coordinate and instruct didactic and clinical year PA students including lecture content and labs.
• Evaluate student performance and provide remediation as needed.
• Student advisement and counseling.
• Serve on program, department, and university committees.
• Contribute to accreditation activities per ARC-PA standards.
• Develop and maintain clinical site affiliations and perform site visits.
• Assist in clinical rotations scheduling and evaluation; liaise with preceptors.
• Engage in active service, research and scholarship.
• Pursue ongoing faculty/professional development.
