Job summary

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in Land Use. The position focuses on local/regional governance, sustainability, climate, and ecology with potential methodological diversity including data science, ethnography, and community engagement.

We seek candidates who will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching across the department’s programs

Qualifications

• PhD in planning or related field is required; ABD applicants who expect to complete before start date are welcome.
• Assistant Professor level requires promising research agenda and strong teaching commitment.
• Associate/Full Professor level requires demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service.
• Social justice and equity in teaching, research, and community engagement are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interdisciplinary research addressing land-use and environmental planning.
• Engage in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels within the DURP programs.
• Contribute to innovative, community-engaged research and diverse scholarship.
