The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Japanese linguistics in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. Start date: August 15, 2027.

We seek an outstanding scholar who will teach and mentor undergraduates and graduates while engaging with current debates in linguistics. Responsibilities include developing an active research program, teaching courses in Japanese linguistics and culture, mentoring MA/PhD students, and

Formación

PhD in Japanese linguistics or a related field by August 15, 2027 (ABD candidates welcome).
Native or near-native fluency in English and Japanese is desirable.
Experience teaching at college level and ability to guide quantitative analysis of language data.

Responsabilidades

Conduct a robust research program in Japanese linguistics across subfields.
Teach undergraduate courses in Japanese linguistics, language, and culture.
Mentor MA and PhD students in the graduate program and contribute to graduate education.
Collaborate with faculty across the Japanese program and related areas and participate in interdisciplinary teaching.
