Job summary

The Ohio State University’s School of Music invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in musicology and/or ethnomusicology. We seek candidates with a strong scholarship and teaching profile that expands our current strengths in musicology and music theory, and who will contribute to curricula and public outreach.

Responsibilities include teaching core undergraduate and graduate courses, developing new courses, and engaging in scholarly activities across musicology,

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or a comparable and relevant humanistic discipline.
Earned doctorate by the time of appointment is required.
ABD candidates with an expected graduation date prior to August 15, 2027, will be considered.
Experience in interdisciplinary music studies is desirable.

Responsibilities

Advance scholarship and teaching in musicology and/or ethnomusicology to complement existing faculty.
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate curricula in musicology and related areas.
Engage in curriculum development, public outreach, and student recruitment across disciplines.
Collaborate with colleagues in music theory and ethnomusicology within the School of Music.
