Job summary

Illinois State University in Normal, IL invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position in Interior Design at Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin August 16, 2027. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, contribute to curriculum, mentor students, and pursue an active program of scholarship aligned with an R2 institution.

Qualifications

• PhD in Interior Design or closely related field (ABD considered).
• Demonstrated or potential for rigorous scholarship and creative activity.
• 1+ academic years of teaching experience at the college level.
• Demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses across the Interior Design curriculum.
• Contribute to course delivery, curriculum development, and student mentoring.
• Engage in inclusive and effective pedagogical practices; pursue a defined research agenda.
• Present work at national/international conferences; seek external funding opportunities.
