Job summary

South Dakota State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Interior Design. The position emphasizes teaching with strong foundations in interior design or interior architecture and content expertise in areas such as materials, CAD software, codes, and studio design areas.

The 9-month, tenure-track role is located in Brookings, SD, with 70% teaching, 20% research, and 10% service. The School of Design offers accredited Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Interior Design and

Qualifications

Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, or Masters of Architecture with an undergraduate degree in Interior Design.
Ability to develop and teach coursework in disciplinary content areas.
Ability to conduct research with peer‑reviewed dissemination of products.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Teach courses within the professional curriculum covering materials and CAD software (Revit, SketchUp, Enscape).
Provide service to the discipline, university, and community.
Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design.
Conduct a research agenda with dissemination of peer reviewed products.
