Job summary

South Dakota State University’s School of Counseling, Human Development and Family Science seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor for the Counseling and Human Resource Development program in Brookings. The nine-month, tenure-track faculty member will teach across locations and formats, conduct research, advise graduate students, and contribute to service, with in-person requirements in Brookings.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program by August 2027 or an equivalent doctorate plus one year full-time in a CACREP accredited counseling program prior to the 2012-2013 school year.
• Eligibility for licensure and/or certification in the state of South Dakota.
• Knowledge of the most recent CACREP standards and policy practices.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to teach in a variety of university settings (on-campus, online synchronous, and asynchronous).
• Potential for scholarly activity, publication, and success in obtaining external funding to support research activity.
• Clinical supervision skills at the graduate level.
• Actively identify with the counseling profession through sustained memberships in counseling organizations; maintenance of certifications/licenses; and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses in a CACREP-approved master’s level program including clinical courses such as Practicum and/or Internship.
• Design and deliver courses in a variety of instructional formats.
• Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research.
• Maintain continuous engagement with, and study of, the field.
• Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.
• Engage in service to the university, community, and the field.
• Deliver a student-centered education and use approaches that support equitable opportunities for all students.
• Support college and school initiatives.
