Morehouse College seeks an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (Exercise Science) for a tenure-track appointment beginning August 1, 2027. The candidate will contribute to expanding the undergraduate curriculum, teach courses in Kinesiology and physical education, and advise students.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a closely related field.
• ABD candidates will be considered with a clear path to completion by August 2027.
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level.
• Evidence of an emerging or established scholarly research agenda in sports management, leadership, or related fields.
• Commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
• Interest in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Experience or interest in securing external funding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education and related areas.
• Teach general education courses as assigned by the department and in alignment with the College’s core curriculum.
• Advise and mentor students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education.
• Develop new courses that align with programmatic goals and emerging trends in sports management and leadership.
• Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda.
• Serve on department, division, and college-wide committees.
• Contribute to institutional initiatives in general education and experiential learning.
• Support the College’s mission to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service.

Education

Doctorate in Kinesiology/Physical Education

ABD with completion by Aug 2027

Undergraduate teaching ability

Scholarly research agenda in sports management/leadership
