Job summary

Pomona College's Department of Dance invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Dance Studies with a strong emphasis in dance history, to begin July 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will teach courses in dance history and cultural studies, including Dance 138: Concert Dance on the Global Stage, Dance 135: Traditions of World Dance, and a First-Year Seminar in Critical Thinking and Writing.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. by time of appointment in a field related to dance studies.
• College teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships.
• Evidence of scholarly research and/or professional performing experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in dance history and cultural studies.
• Develop new courses in the candidate's research field.
• Provide leadership and vision for the study of dance history and cultural studies; expand interdisciplinary work across the Claremont Colleges.
