Job summary

Long Beach City College invites applications for a part-time lecturer in Hip Hop Dance History (Dance 19, 3 units). We seek a scholar-practitioner with knowledge of Afro-diasporic dance forms and a commitment to inclusive excellence, able to teach a course addressing popping, locking, breaking, and related styles.

The hire date is Fall 2026 with responsibilities beginning Spring 2027. Candidates should demonstrate experience teaching diverse student populations and be ready to develop curriculum

Qualifications

• Master’s in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theater with dance emphasis, or equivalent.
• Three or more years of teaching Hip Hop Dance History in lecture-based courses or equivalent.
• Experience with Student Learning Outcomes and assessment.
• Ability to develop interdisciplinary curricula and engage diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-campus Hip-Hop Dance History lectures for Dance 19 (3 units).
• Create a dynamic learning environment and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
• Adapt teaching to individual and class knowledge, and integrate new technologies into courses.
• Collaborate with faculty and participate in curriculum development and governance.
