Job summary

California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2027. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, with an anticipated hiring range of $110,000–$123,000 per year.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and master’s level courses, support curricular development in computer science and/or software engineering, and engage in high‑quality scholarly work

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
• Ability to develop an externally funded, applied research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students and partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to hands‑on, student‑centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
• Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and master’s level courses and support and expand curricular development in computer science and/or software engineering.
• Engage in scholarly work of high quality as evidenced by external peer review.
• Perform service activities at all levels of the University.
