Job summary

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, seeks multiple full-time, tenure-track faculty in Statistics and/or Data Science beginning August 12, 2027. Candidates will contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service while collaborating across disciplines.

The role supports BS Statistics, BS Data Science, and MS Statistics, with a teaching load of seven 3-unit courses per year on a 4–3 basis. Appointment is at the Assistant Professor rank with potential for higher ranks; salary

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning.
• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
• Demonstrated potential for high-quality teaching of bachelor and master’s level statistics and/or data science.
• Demonstrated potential for advising master’s students in statistics.
• Demonstrated potential for research that includes student collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of statistics and data science courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Mentor MS theses and supervise student research.
• Engage in scholarship with externally validated outcomes (publications, grants, presentations).
• Contribute to service at department, college, and university levels.
