St. Mary’s College of Maryland is seeking a Collections Services Librarian for a 12-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position at the assistant librarian rank, with an annual salary of $75,000-$80,000.

The role leads collections services, metadata/cataloging, acquisitions, serials, electronic resources, and interlibrary loan, including a $700,000+ budget and supervision of one staff member. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues, engage in scholarship, and participate in

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited master’s degree or expect to complete during the first year of employment
• Two years experience in metadata/cataloging and electronic resources
• Demonstrated interest in managing and motivating professional staff
• Dedicated to positively engaging with undergraduate students

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain current, high-quality, diverse library collections across formats, including cataloging/metadata creation
• Oversee interlibrary loan operations and supervise staff engaged in collections services
• Lead collection maintenance, liaise with departments on collection development, and monitor physical collection health
• Manage the collections budget in collaboration with Library leadership
• Support Alma and Primo VE system initiatives with cross-library collaboration
• Act as the College’s liaison to the USMAI Library Consortium on collections-related matters
• Stay current with scholarly communication trends and practices
