Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
• Expertise in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry.
• Research record in one or more subdisciplines of chemistry.
• Postdoctoral and/or professional record.
• Experience with inclusive teaching and mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.
• Evidence of mission-centered undergraduate teaching.
• Ability to establish a laboratory-based undergraduate research program.
• Engagement with Gonzaga University’s mission in application materials.

Responsibilities

• Teach General Chemistry and laboratory, and, depending on expertise, foundational, advanced, and elective upper-division courses in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry.
• Establish a laboratory-based research program in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry with undergraduate researchers.
• Mentor and oversee undergraduate researchers; communicate results through publications and presentations; pursue external funding.
• Provide academic and career advising and mentoring to up to 15 undergraduate students per year.
• Contribute to department, university, and discipline through committee service and other academic citizenship.
