Joliet Junior College is seeking a Faculty member for General and Organismal Biology on a full-time, tenure-track basis. The role involves teaching multiple biology sections and contributing to departmental activities in a diverse learning environment.

The candidate should hold a Master's in Biology (PhD preferred) and have teaching experience at the collegiate level, with openness to online or hybrid formats and a strong commitment to student learning and community college mission.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Biology or closely related field with emphasis on organismal biology.
• Two years of collegiate-level teaching experience.
• Ability to establish cooperative relationships with colleagues and community, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
• Commitment to the college's core values of respect, inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, innovation and quality.

Responsabilités

• Teach at least three sections of General Biology and/or Organismal Biology and other biology as needed.
• Work closely with other instructors, special programs, and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
• Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
• Be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
• Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
• Employ effective and innovative teaching methods in the classroom and laboratory.
• Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
• Teach at other campus sites as needed.
• Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College full time faculty contract.
