Job summary

Fairmont State University seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry to begin in August 2027. The position will teach foundational and advanced biochemistry courses, contribute to curriculum development for a BS in Biochemistry, and support introductory chemistry for all majors and non-majors. Expect student mentorship and service on committees.

Ph.D. (or ABD) in Biochemistry or Chemistry is required, with preference for candidates having undergraduate teaching experience

Qualifications

• Ph.D. (or ABD) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
• Research agenda appropriate for undergraduate STEM majors.
• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Chemistry (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach foundational biochemistry and advanced biochemistry courses and laboratories.
• Collaborate with department faculty to develop a biochemistry curriculum for the BS degree.
• Teach introductory chemistry lectures and laboratories for majors and non-majors.
• Mentor undergraduate students and participate in committees and program assessment.
