Job summary

Long Beach City College is seeking a full-time tenure-track American Sign Language instructor to begin in Spring 2027. The role focuses on teaching ASL courses, including introductory and intermediate levels, and overseeing curriculum development for ASL-English Interpreting courses, with participation in shared governance and program supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience; or Associate degree and six years of professional experience; or the equivalent.
• Evidence of sensitivity and ability to manage diverse classroom environments and teach community college students.

Responsibilities

• Teach ASL lecture and laboratory courses (ASL discipline).
• Develop ASL-English Interpreting curriculum and participate in program development.
• Engage in shared governance, committees, and professional development.
• Supervise ASL-Deaf Studies program and contribute to student success initiatives.
• Engage in service activities and collaboration across departments and disciplines.
• Utilize diverse teaching modalities including asynchronous and hybrid formats.
