Job summary

Southern Oregon University is seeking a nine-month, professional-track, Instructor to teach first and second year American Sign Language and related courses on campus. The position may include courses such as Deaf Culture, Special Education, or other language/education classes.

Responsibilities include advising and curriculum development. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in ASL or related field, fluent ASL, and demonstrated teaching ability with a strong commitment to student

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in ASL or related field required.
• Demonstrated fluent and accurate command of American Sign Language with knowledge of culture and pedagogy.
• One year of college-level teaching experience required.

Responsibilities

• Teach first and second year American Sign Language and related courses as needed.
• Advise, develop curriculum, and participate in professional activities.
• Contribute to department service and program development.
