Job summary

University System of New Hampshire invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Biomedical Sciences (MCBS) focusing on AI and machine learning applications in biochemistry and biomedical science.

The candidate will build an externally funded program, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentor students, and foster collaborations across UNH.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, chemistry, computer science, data science, biomedical engineering, or closely related field by start date.
• Evidence of research using AI/ML methods to address biochemical/biomedical questions.
• Potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program.
• Ability to provide effective undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising, and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain an independent, externally funded research program at the intersection of AI/ML and biochemistry/biomedical science.
• Develop computational approaches to questions in protein modeling, molecular interactions, systems biology, multi-omics, or drug discovery.
• Publish in peer-reviewed venues and present at conferences.
• Pursue competitive funding from federal agencies, foundations, industry, and others.
• Build collaborations across MCBS, COLSA, UNH departments and external partners.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers and promote ethical, reproducible science.
