Job summary

Lantern Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Housing Stability Specialist in the Bronx to support tenants in Lantern’s housing programs.

You will handle intake, leasing compliance, rent coordination, and tenant engagement, working across departments to ensure stability and adherence to LIHTC and other regulations. The ideal candidate has 2+ years working with vulnerable populations, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field is required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Experience in leasing compliance, property management, or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of housing regulations including LIHTC, Section 8, NYCHA, HPD, DHCR, rent stabilization, and Fair Housing practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and experience with CAPS or HASA Web.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality customer service to residents and applicants.
• Maintain accurate tenant files and ensure subsidy documentation compliance.
• Manage vacancies in accordance with Lantern policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and property management to maintain a safe, supportive environment.
• Monitor occupancy to maintain at least 95% occupancy.
