Job summary

Lantern Community Services seeks a Harm Reduction Specialist to support tenants across four Manhattan sites, focusing on health, stability, and recovery through harm reduction, education, and service linkage.

The role requires compassion, CASAC-T eligibility within 6 months, and experience with homelessness, mental illness, and chronic conditions. Join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team dedicated to tenants’ well-being and housing stability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CASAC-T required, or willingness to enroll within six months of hire, with completion within eighteen months.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing harm reduction and substance use services.
  • Experience with homelessness, mental illness, substance use, HIV/AIDS, or chronic medical conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Engage individual tenants with Harm Reduction goals and support risk reduction, relapse prevention, coping skills, and treatment decisions.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops on recovery education, healthcare self-advocacy, coping skills, and social support.
  • Collaborate with Harm Reduction Leadership and Integrated Services to coordinate on-site health and service engagement.
  • Document all services and assessments per program requirements and maintain confidential records.
  • Participate in staff meetings, clinical meetings, and supervision to ensure best practices.
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team and support educational initiatives related to substance use.
