Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Teacher Assistant for a Southwest Side location. Under the supervision of a licensed teacher, you will assist in instruction and related duties to support student learning and school operations.

Minimum qualifications include a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or 60 college hours and the ability to communicate effectively. CPS offers comprehensive health coverage, pension plans, and 403(b)/457(b) options.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN) or equivalent by appointment.
• Knowledge of English grammar and spelling is required.
• Basic mathematics and ability to follow instructions.
• Good communication with students, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of students during lunch and recess.
• Help teachers prepare bulletin boards and display student work.
• Operate basic classroom equipment and reproduce educational materials.
• Provide tutoring to students under teacher supervision.
• Assist in collecting and grading homework and exams.
• Assist in loading/unloading students on school buses.
