Job summary

Elk River Area ISD 728 is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The position supports elementary students with diverse learning needs under the guidance of Special Education Teachers and uses data to track progress in a safe, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must meet Minnesota paraprofessional requirements (Associate's degree/60 college credits/ParaPro).
Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student records and needs.

Responsibilities

Instructional Support: assist lead teacher with instruction based on IEPs.
Student Engagement: help keep students focused in general and special education settings.
Behavioral Support: implement BIPs and de-escalate using district-approved methods.
Data Collection: observe, record, and chart student progress.
Personal Care (if applicable): assist with daily living activities.
Classroom Management: prepare materials and maintain organized environment.
