Job summary

Elk River Area ISD 728 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year to support students with diverse needs. You will work closely with Special Education Teachers to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth in a safe, inclusive environment.

The role starts with the 2026-2027 school year, on a 10-month calendar. Salary begins at $22.08 per hour, with opportunities to collaborate across multiple student services and educational settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must meet Minnesota ParaPro requirements (e.g., Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or ParaPro passing score).
• Prior experience with children, especially with special needs, is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student records.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with instruction in IEP-based plans.
• Support student engagement in general and special education settings.
• Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and assist with de‑escalation as needed.
• Collect data on student behavior and academic progress.
• Provide personal care assistance as applicable (mobility, feeding, hygiene).
• Prepare instructional materials and manage classroom setup and aids.
