Job summary

ISD 728 in Elk River, MN is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. You will support elementary students alongside Special Education Teachers to foster academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth in a safe, inclusive environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, Minnesota paraprofessional qualifications, and strong communication skills. Office hours are 6.5–6.75 hours daily on a 10-month calendar, with a starting pay of $22.08 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements met (associate's degree/60 credits or ParaPro).
• Experience with children, especially those with special needs, preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Assist the lead teacher in delivering individualized or small-group instruction based on IEPs.
• Student Engagement: Help keep students focused and engaged in general and special education settings.
• Behavioral Support: Implement BIPs and de-escalate challenging behaviors using district techniques.
• Data Collection: Observe, record, and chart students' behavioral and academic progress.
• Personal Care (if applicable): Assist students with daily living activities as needed.
• Classroom Management: Prepare instructional materials, set up assistive tech, maintain a welcoming classroom.
