Job summary

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators for MnDOT District 6A. Roles include Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate in various district truck stations across Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville and Winona.

Shifts typically run during snow/ice seasons (A or B). Temporary staff may work 2-5 days, including weekends; emergency staff fill in for unavailable operators.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and understand information; maintain logs and records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Perform winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
