Role Overview
The Temporary RTW Designer, Soft Wovens works closely with the Design Directors to support the development of seasonal collections across the soft woven category. This role is responsible for sourcing fabrics, developing trims, and driving construction innovation in line with seasonal direction in order to deliver both mainline and capsule collections that merge creative vision with commercial appeal.
Design & Development
- Drape, develop, and sketch silhouettes under the direction of the Design Directors.
- Create and update detailed technical sketches (hand-drawn and digital).
- Translate creative direction into cohesive design concepts for assigned category.
- Partner with Product Development team and overseas vendors to execute seasonal beading, embroidery, and trim developments with a strong focus on cost-effective, high-value design.
- Lead concept ideation for assigned categories and capsules, leveraging performance data on fabrics and silhouettes.
Fabric & Trim Sourcing
- Source seasonal fabrics, trims, embroideries, embellishments, and beadings.
- Maintain and organize an updated seasonal library of all approved swatches, trims, and developments.
- Ensure accessibility and archiving of all fabrications and sketches for current and past seasons.
Technical Packages & Linesheet Management
- Create and maintain accurate technical packages for all assigned styles, including mainline and capsule collections.
- Maintain and update seasonal line sheets: sketches, CADs, color/material changes.
- Manage Market CAD decks for late add-ons or exclusive seasonal styles.
- Lead all fittings from first prototype through final production for assigned styles.
- Participate in cross-functional team (CFT) meetings to align on fit, construction, and production updates.
- Apply feedback from fittings and meetings to revise designs and tech packs accordingly.
Presentations & Communication
- Build and maintain seasonal mood boards, presentation boards, and collection boards.
- Prepare materials for key design milestones: concept kickoff, material reviews, sketch reviews, proto reviews.
- Maintain clear communication with overseas vendors to ensure timely and accurate sample development.
- Provide regular updates to internal cross-functional teams on design progress and changes.
Special Projects & Capsules
- Manage design and development of assigned capsule collections and special projects from concept to execution.
Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Education:
- 4+ years of relevant fashion design experience required, with an emphasis on woven and embellished categories.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Fashion Design preferred.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabric behavior, particularly in soft wovens and delicate materials.
- Proven experience with beading, embroidery, and embellishment development.
- High proficiency in hand-drawn and technical sketching.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills; ability to maintain detailed archives and manage multiple seasonal libraries.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Google Drive knowledge a plus.
- Advanced ability to create technical packages.
