Job summary

Progress House in California seeks a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist to provide personalized peer support and case management. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, attend collaborative meetings, and coordinate with community resources to help clients achieve recovery goals.

The position is temporary-to-hire with a sixteen-week assignment. Pay is $16.90 per hour, with no PTO during the temporary period, and potential eligibility for benefits if converted to a regular role.

Qualifications

• Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist by California Mental Health Services Authority, or in the process of certification therewith
• Understanding of recovery and resilience and peer support practices within the substance abuse disorder treatment context
• Utilization of computer to complete program forms, prepare reports, log data and track referrals and linkages, specifically: Microsoft 365, Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word); PDF

Responsibilities

• Providing personalized peer support and case management to clients
• Attending collaborative meetings with medical, counseling and corporate staff members to share information, discuss best practices and case conference
• Collaborating and coordinating with other providers, community organizations, family members and other natural supports to achieve shared goals
• Developing and assessing recovery goals; helping to remove barriers to access
• Providing reassurance to clients in distress or crises
• General clerical tasks including copying, filing, uploading documentation
• Scheduling and tracking physical examinations and TB tests for clients
• Monitoring Medi-Cal and/or SSI eligibility
• Managing medications (documentation, pickup from local pharmacies)
• Transporting clients to/from appointments
