Job summary

Progress House in California seeks a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist to provide personalized peer support and case management. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, attend collaborative meetings, and coordinate with community resources to help clients achieve recovery goals.

The position is temporary-to-hire with a sixteen-week assignment. Pay is $16.90 per hour, with no PTO during the temporary period, and potential eligibility for benefits if converted to a regular role.

Qualifications

• Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist by California Mental Health Services Authority, or in the process of certification therewith
• Understanding of recovery and resilience and peer support practices within the substance abuse disorder treatment context
• Utilization of computer to complete program forms, prepare reports, log data and track referrals and linkages, specifically: Microsoft 365, Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word); PDF

Responsibilities

• Providing personalized peer support and case management to clients
• Attending collaborative meetings with medical, counseling and corporate staff members to share information, discuss best practices and case conference
• Collaborating and coordinating with other providers, community organizations, family members and other natural supports to achieve shared goals
• Developing and assessing recovery goals; helping to remove barriers to access
• Providing reassurance to clients in distress or crises
• General clerical tasks including copying, filing, uploading documentation
• Scheduling and tracking physical examinations and TB tests for clients
• Monitoring Medi-Cal and/or SSI eligibility
• Managing medications (documentation, pickup from local pharmacies)
• Transporting clients to/from appointments

Salary Range: $16.90 To $16.90 Hourly

Pay Rate:$16.90 per hour

Temporary Assignment Duration

This position will begin as a temporary assignment expected to last approximately sixteen (16) weeks.

Temporary Employee Benefits

During the temporary assignment, this position is not eligible for paid time off (PTO), including vacation pay, or employer-sponsored medical insurance benefits. Sick leave, if applicable, will be provided in accordance with California law.

If the employee is converted to a regular position following the temporary assignment, eligibility for Progress House, Inc. employee benefits will be determined according to the terms, eligibility requirements, and waiting periods of the applicable benefit plans and company policies.

Upon completion of the 16-week temporary assignment, the employee may be considered for conversion to a regular position based on satisfactory job performance, attendance, conduct, continued qualification for the position, business needs, and position availability.

Successful completion of the temporary assignment does not guarantee an offer of regular employment. Any conversion to regular employment is subject to approval by Management and Human Resources.

  • Copying
  • Filing
  • Uploading documentation (e.g., DMC Verifications, After Visit Summaries, etc.)
• Scheduling and tracking physical examinations as well as TB tests for clients
• Monitoring Medi-Cal and/or SSI eligibility
• Managing medications (e.g., documentation, pick-up from local pharmacies, etc.)
• Transporting clients to/from appointments

Required Qualifications:

• Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist by California Mental Health Services Authority, or in the process of certification therewith
• Understanding of recovery and resilience and peer support practices within the substance abuse disorder treatment context
• Utilization of computer to complete program forms, prepare reports, log data and track referrals and linkages, specifically:
  • Microsoft 365
    • Office Applications: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • PDF (Adobe, etc.)
• Maintaining confidentiality of clients, records and information
• Acting as a role model for clients, family members and parents/caregivers, and recognize the value of every individual's recovery experience

Special Qualifications:

• Pre-Employment Investigative Background Check and Drug Test is required.
• Progress House, Inc. is a Drug-Free Workplace.
• Post-Hire TB Test is required
• Pre-employment physical including fitness for duty examination may also be required.
