Job description

Assist research scientists with ongoing lab and field projects on local and State water bodies. This includes travel to aquatic field sites to conduct field work in all weather conditions on a regular basis; operation and trailering of boats with outboard motors; maintenance of field equipment; calibration of data sonde sensors; maintenance of detailed logs and record keeping completed on each sampling date; analyses of water samples collected, including all aspects of required quality control/quality assurance; and assist in compiling all data reporting and final database entries. Also provide support for general duties in all aspects of the CAAE laboratories, education outreach program and administration.

  • 4 year degree; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience
  • Experience with hiring diagrams and electronics
  • Familiar with programming cell phone modems and operation in aquatic field sites
  • Skilled in identifying and reporting data discrepancies in the water quality analytical laboratory
  • Experience in identifying and reporting data discrepancies from field equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with the operation of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Experience performing water quality analysis, including preparatory steps (accurate calculation of chemical quantities for standard reagents)
  • Able to work in a fast paced learning environment
