Position Overview

The Temporary Public Safety Ambassador serves as a critical link between the University Community and the University Police Department, operating 24/7 to support campus operations. The role involves protective, security, enforcement, and public contact duties, working independently while reporting regularly to a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies

• Act as additional visual monitoring for the Police Department.
• Provide timely notifications to Command Staff for hazards, suspicious activity, or emergencies.
• Maintain accurate reports documenting services performed.
• Be approachable, proactive, and aware of individuals who appear lost or seek assistance.
• Offer the public accurate directions, information, and assistance to North Carolina A&T State University students, faculty, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred.
• Security or related experience is preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact cordially with a diverse community.
• Proficient in operating a portable radio and providing clear transmissions.
• Ability to assess situations quickly, accurately, and effectively.
• Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Reliable transportation and punctuality for all assigned shifts.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong, verifiable work history in customer service or similar roles.
• Clear background check, including criminal history and references.
• Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
• Physically capable of working in all weather conditions.
