Job summary

University of Louisville in Louisville, KY seeks a Temporary Physical AI Engineer to support time-limited AI initiatives for the Kentucky Center for Digital Innovation (KCDI) through hands-on research and coordination.

You will develop and test computer vision and ML models for research, assist with integration and testing on hardware or simulations, and document workflows and results while adhering to university security and privacy requirements.

Qualifications

• Six (6) or more years of related experience.
• Education/training and work experience combined in CS/engineering/data science is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document research code, datasets, experiments, and technical workflows.

• Follow university requirements for information security, data privacy, and research compliance.
• Support development, testing, and implementation of Physical AI technologies, including world foundation models and Cresco framework.

Temporary Physical AI Engineer will support time-limited AI initiatives for Kentucky Center for Digital Innovation (KCDI) through technical coordination and hands-on research and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test computer vision and machine-learning models for research applications
• Support prototype development and evaluation for robotics, sensor systems, and edge-computing projects
• Write, test, and document research code, datasets, experiments, and technical workflows
• Assist with integration and testing of models on computing hardware and/or simulated environments
• Summarize experimental results and troubleshoot issues; contribute to research reports and demonstrations
• Follow university requirements for information security, data privacy, and research compliance for assigned projects
• Support development, testing, and implementation of Physical AI technologies, including:
  • world foundation models
  • edge computing applications
  • research platforms such as the Cresco framework

Requirements

• Six (6) or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Combination of relevant education, training, and hands-on experience in computer science, engineering, data science, robotics, or a related field totaling approximately four years; relevant graduate-level research and project experience may count toward this requirement
• Demonstrated programming experience and familiarity with machine learning or computer vision
• Technical collaboration; ability to document research and projects; problem solving and communication skills
• Responsible handling of data; ability to learn new tools and methods
• Experience with edge computing frameworks, including Cresco
• Experience building or applying world foundation models and related AI technologies
