Job summary

Good Shepherd is hiring for Regina's Place - Youth Services to support adolescent mothers and their children. You will assess clients, provide crisis prevention, counseling, life skills teaching, and connect with community services to enhance outcomes.

The role requires independent work, a valid driver's license, and experience with youth. The team emphasizes anti-racist practices and a supportive work environment with weekend/rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker.
• Proven case management and community development skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and think creatively.
• Fluency in French or another language is an asset.

Responsibilities

Week One: Thursday 4p-8p, Saturday 10a-3p, Sunday 10a-2p

Week Two: Saturday 4:15p-12:15a, Sunday 3p-11p

Rotation of all stat holidays

Rate of Pay:

$23.28- $28.05 (Starting salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions)

This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd – Regina's Place, Youth Services.

How You Will Make An Impact

In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of adolescent mothers and their children living at Regina's Place - Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counseling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching i.e. cooking and linkages with other community services.

Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring To Our Team

• Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker
• Experience working with adolescent mothers and children, knowledge of the Child and Family Service Act Proficiency
• The ability to complete housekeeping/cleaning duties in a residential setting is required
• A valid driver's license is required
• Have knowledgeable of and experience working with transitional age, street-involved and homeless youth
• A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively are required
• Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
• CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
• Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
• Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
• Schedule: weekends and rotating shifts
