Job summary

Good Shepherd Hamilton & Toronto is seeking aTemporary Full Time housing support worker for our West Ave location. The rate is $24.89 per hour, with a 37.5 hour work week from Tuesday to Saturday across day, afternoon and overnight shifts.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload, conduct intakes and assessments, and provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling in a residential setting. You will work independently in a mission-driven, values-based environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of issues affecting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including violence, abuse, mental illness, homelessness, poverty and substance use.
  • Experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Experience with Intake and Assessment.
  • Commitment to mission values: availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity.
  • Post-secondary education is required.
  • C.P.R. certification or willingness to be certified.
  • Ontario driver’s license (G) is an asset.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset.
  • Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice.
  • Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and centre records.

How You Will Make An Impact

The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and non-residential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate housing support services. This may include case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment. This position is within a residential program and tasks such as cleaning, packing and lifting will be required.

  • Develop and maintain a caseload
  • Complete an intake and assessment on each resident
  • Design, implement, in consultation with supervisor, an interview schedule that will provide an evaluation of "quality of life" improvement of successful program participants
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
  • Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.
What You'll Bring To Our Team
