Job summary

The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA invites applications for a part-time temporary Licensed Staff Counselor. The role covers counseling, assessment, and consultation for students, scientists, and staff, with on-site hours totaling 25 per week from Oct 1, 2026 to Feb 26, 2027.

Applicants should hold a CA-licensed PhD/PsyD or a Master’s in social work with licensure and relevant experience. Strong communication, crisis management, and teamwork are essential; familiarity with Titanium

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology with CA licensure.
• Masters of Social Work with licensure and a minimum of four years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of the required Ph.D./Psy.D.
• Experience in counseling, assessment and diagnosis, outreach and consultation.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual counseling to students, faculty and staff.
• Facilitates support groups (e.g. Students and Scholars).
• Develops and implements on-site presentations (Lunch and Learns).
• Offers specialty expertise in work with a diverse and inclusive campus community.
• Helps to manage campus crises in collaboration with department heads.
• Maintains counseling records and coordinates outreach tasks.
