Job summary

Scripps Research in La Jolla, California seeks a part-time Licensed Staff Counselor (temporary) to provide counseling, assessments and consultations to students, scientists and staff. The position includes on-site presentations and supports a 5-month term from October 1, 2026 to February 26, 2027, with 25 hours per week.

The role requires licensure in California (Ph.D./Psy.D. or MSW with licensure), strong communication and crisis management skills, and the ability to work as part of a diverse

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical/counseling psychology with CA licensure.
• MSW with licensure and 4+ years experience may substitute.
• Experience in counseling, assessment and diagnosis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Crisis management demonstrated.
• Leadership, problem-solving and public speaking abilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR.
• University counseling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual counseling to students, faculty and staff.
• Facilitates on-site support groups.
• Develops and presents on-site sessions (Lunch and Learns).
• Offers expertise in diverse campus community.
• Assists in campus crisis management.
• Manages counseling records and scheduling.
• Supports outreach with flyers and brochures.
• Details of established essential functions discussed during interview.
