Position Details

  • Nature of position: Temporary, part-time
  • Job Summary: Instructors are needed to teach major courses and courses within the General Education program; duties may include filling in for faculty on sabbaticals or leaves. There is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.
Responsibilities
  • Teach writing courses such as Introduction to College Writing, Advanced Composition, Business Writing, Technical Writing, Science Writing, and Web Writing & Content Development.
  • Teach courses in literature, film studies, and English Education as needed.
  • Up to three courses per semester, with potential for summer teaching as needed.
  • Teach in traditional and online learning environments.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience teaching course content or related content.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Successful interview and Teaching Demonstration.
  • Successful description of teaching philosophy for class teaching assignments.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or ABD in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or related discipline.
  • Evidence of teaching in online environments.
