Job summary

The Illinois House of Representatives seeks a Committee Clerk within the Office of the Clerk. This is a temporary, contractual position through June 11, 2027, located in Springfield, Illinois, with some evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities include recording and maintaining audio for committee hearings, ensuring proper motions and procedures, transcribing debates, handling documents and public information requests, and preparing hearing rooms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain audio for committee hearings.
• Ensure proper motions and procedures are followed in committees.
• Record legislative actions on legislation.
• Collect and maintain documents distributed in committees.
• Respond to public information requests.
• Copy, assemble, and distribute committee records.
• Prepare committee rooms for hearings.
• Transcribe legislative debates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
