Certifications/Licenses Required: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Work’s Parks Division is hiring a Temporary Laborer who will be required to be an integral part of the maintenance division performing various job duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Performs miscellaneous skilled and unskilled manual duties in the maintenance and care of recreation areas, athletic fields, park and playground equipment.
• Lines playing fields.
• Plants trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Replaces grass.
• Repairs fences, water fountains, drainage systems, swings, slides, and other playground equipment.
• Paints and performs other maintenance work.
• Performs other related unskilled labor duties such as cleaning debris and leaf removal.
• May also operate a weed whacker.
• Tree cutting and removal.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Required
• Some experience in maintenance work involving turf maintenance and other skilled/unskilled job duties. - Required
• General knowledge of parks and recreation department operations. - Required
