Laborers, Flaggers, & Operating Engineers

Basic Requirements

• Attend work regularly, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, overtime as needed.
• Work outside in all conditions, i.e., hot, cold, wet, and dry.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Basic ability to communicate and understand directions for safety and work tasks.

Laborers Responsibilities

• Perform various strenuous tasks at a quick pace, such as lifting up to 80 pounds, shoveling, digging trenches, clearing brush, raking, entering excavations, bending or squatting, operating hand tools, demolition, and debris disposal.

Flaggers Responsibilities

• Stand/walk for long periods to coordinate and control vehicular traffic at construction sites.
• Use traffic signs, flags, and hand signals.
• Coordinate Traffic Flow with Other Workers.

Operating Engineers Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment like bulldozers, excavators, rollers, pavers, cranes, etc.
• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy equipment (mechanic).
• Coordinate operations with laborers and other operators.
• Follow safety procedures and hold current valid licenses, e.g., hoisting engineer, crane operator.
