Job summary

The New School is seeking a Temporary International Student Advisor (ISA) to support International Student and Scholar Services. The ISA will assist with processing SEVIS requests, advise on immigration rules, and ensure student status compliance.

The position is primarily in-person on campus with potential hybrid arrangements. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and prior DSO/ARO experience is preferred. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Our progressive, interdisciplinary approach has earned us recognition as one of the most forward-thinking institutions in the world.The Temporary International Student Advisor (ISA) for International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a position that will report to the Senior Advisor for International Students and Scholars in ISSS. The International Student Advisor is being hired to support the ISSS team in key areas of processing. The ISA will also be responsible for advising students in basic immigration regulations and maintenance of their student status.**CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Serve as Designated School Official (DSO).* Process assigned requests from students using SEVIS, Sunapsis & Banner systems.* Collaborate with the ISSS team to meet processing goals.* Utilize Sunapsis, New School email, and virtual meetings to communicate with international students' requirements.* Respond to student inquiries and requests through the ISSS general email inbox.* Keep abreast of University, NAFSA, USCIS, DHS, and DOS guidance to ensure compliance.* Participate in ISSS meetings.* Other duties as assigned.**QUALIFICATIONS*** Bachelor’s degree required.* Ability to work in groups and independently.* Strong computer skills with proficiency in Windows-based environments including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Drive, Banner, Sunapsis and/or SEVIS.* Excellent communication, organization, & customer service skills.* Punctual & resourceful with a positive attitude.* Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and be able to serve as a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Designated School Official (DSO) and a Department of State (DOS) Alternate Responsible Office (ARO).* Ability to pass a required background check.* Previous DSO and ARO experience.**WORK MODE**This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs.
