Position Overview

This is a temporary summer position, ideal for those seeking extra income or testing out a new role before committing long-term. The work involves ensuring the safety of travelers through highway maintenance and emergency response. The pay starts at $19.50 per hour, with potential promotion to a senior level at $20.998 per hour for CDL holders.

Albion, Bloomfield, Clarkson, Columbus, Crofton, Hartington, Humphrey, Laurel, Lyons, Neligh, Newcastle, Niobrara, Norfolk, Plainview, South Sioux City, Wayne, West Point

Responsibilities

1. Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance
2. Perform tree trimming
3. Respond to highway emergencies
4. Safely handle equipment, materials, and hazardous substances
5. Spread and tamp surfacing materials
6. Assist with other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license
• For senior roles, a Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements is required within 60 days
• Experience with heavy equipment is preferred
• May require overnight travel and prompt emergency reporting

Physical Requirements

Ability to move, lift, and work in outdoor conditions, including high traffic areas, with weights up to 90 pounds with assistance.
