Job Summary

Temporary, seasonal groundskeeper responsible for maintaining campus grounds during summer months.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain campus vegetation by mowing, pruning, trimming, staking trees and shrubs, and detailing flowerbeds.
  • Keep grounds clean by removing trash, debris, and other refuse.
  • Prepare grounds for seasonal climate changes, prune trees/bushes, distribute fertilizer.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards and practices.
  • Treat vegetation for insects and remove weeds using pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals.
  • Excavate holes and trenches for installation of lights, sprinklers, and other equipment.
  • Remove debris from mulched areas and flowerbeds.
  • Plant seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation in designated areas.
  • Repair and adjust tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Assist with special events, including setup, event security, and cleanup.
  • Collaborate with others towards achieving common goals.
  • Respond to customer needs in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Job may require other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated experience in the grounds industry, including knowledge of common practices, tools, equipment, and materials.

Physical Demands
  • Traverse in all weather conditions.
  • Squat, reach, lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk continuously during shift.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Regular attendance required.
