Job Summary
The groundskeeper is responsible for managing the landscapingrequirements of assigned areas by keeping the grounds clean oftrash, debris, and anything else that could upset an otherwiseorderly condition.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators
The intent of this job description is to provide a representationof the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution
- Manages and maintains campus vegetation by mowing; pruning,trimming, and staking trees and shrubs; and detailing flowerbedsand other landscape elements
- Maintains the cleanliness of campus grounds by removing trash,debris, and other refuse
- Prepares grounds for seasonal climate changes by pruningtrees/bushes and distributing fertilizer
- Adheres to strict safety standards and practices
- Treats vegetation for insects and removes weeds usingpesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals
- Excavates holes and trenches for installation of lights,sprinklers, and other equipment
- Removes debris from mulched areas and flowerbeds
- Plants seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees, and othervegetation in designated areas
- Repairs and adjusts tools, machinery, and equipment

Required Qualifications
– An equivalent combination ofeducation, training, and experience will be considered. Additionalrequirements may be designated by position.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated experience in the grounds industry, includingconsiderable knowledge of common practices and related tools,equipment, and materials
