Job summary

Kutztown University’s Counseling Center is seeking full-time licensed mental health professionals to provide short-term counseling for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Counseling Center is in the student health center, reporting through Student Affairs, and uses a solution-focused model to serve undergraduate and graduate students in a team setting.

You will provide in-person individual and group counseling, conduct risk assessments, offer consultations to students, faculty, and staff, supervise

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Unencumbered PA licensure (LPC, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist).
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience counseling young adults.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency with diverse populations including people of color; LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Providing in-person individual and group counseling.
  • Providing risk assessment and emergency intervention services.
  • Providing consultation services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Providing clinical supervision of graduate practicum students.
  • Providing referral services to external resources when higher care is needed.
  • Developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informed outreach programs.
  • Collaborating with campus partners and participating in campus service opportunities.

Job Summary

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 7,500students across its graduate and undergraduate programs. Located in a charming rural setting in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, theUniversity is just a 20-minute drive from the metropolitan areas ofAllentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and about an hour from thePhiladelphia metropolitan area. The University seeks to hireemployees with experience working with diverse populations.

Kutztown University's Counseling Center is currently acceptingapplications for full-time licensed mental health professionals to provide short-term counseling services for the 2026/2027 academicyear. The Counseling Center is located in the student healthcenter, reporting through the division of Student Affairs. Counselors utilize a solution-focused model and serve undergraduateand graduate students in a team-oriented setting. This is an on-teaching position.

  • Providing in-person individual and group counseling.
  • Providing risk assessment and emergency interventionservices.
  • Providing consultation services to students, faculty, andstaff.
  • Providing clinical supervision of graduate practicumstudents.
  • Providing referral services to external resources when a higherlevel of care is needed.
  • Developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informedoutreach programs on a variety of topics.
  • Collaborating with various campus partners and participating incampus service opportunities.

The Counseling Center is open Monday-Friday with hours varyingbetween 8:30 am -7:00 pm. Some evening availability until 7:00 pmis required.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performancereview and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching andfulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarlygrowth and professional development; and service.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master's degree in counseling, social work, or a relatedfield.
  • Unencumbered PA licensure (LPC, LCSW, or LicensedPsychologist).
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience providingcounseling to young adult populations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency through work experience withindividuals and communities of color; LGBTQ+ individuals; workingwith people of various abilities, faiths/non-faith, ethnicbackgrounds, and other diverse populations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, andinclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical settingworking as a licensed counselor.
  • Previous experience providing counseling services to collegestudents in a university counseling center is stronglypreferred.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and management.
  • LCADC/CAADC and experience completing drug and alcoholassessments.
