Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a Long-Term Substitute Teacher to support Holy Cross Academy's educational mission, delivering lesson plans and maintaining a faith-centered classroom while ensuring continuity in student learning.

This temporary assignment runs from early September through early December, three days per week, covering a maternity leave and collaborating with the regular classroom teacher.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; teaching certification preferred.
• Prior teaching or classroom experience, preferably in an elementary school.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans with flexibility and initiative.
• Commitment to a positive, student-centered learning environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily instruction based on provided lesson plans and adapt as needed.
• Maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies.
• Provide whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction.
• Assess student understanding and provide feedback.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and recess.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain supplies.
• Communicate with school staff regarding student progress and needs.
• Uphold routines and expectations established by the school.
