Job summary

Community Servings in Jamaica Plain, MA is seeking a Temporary Cook to support a fast-paced on-site kitchen that prepares medically tailored meals.

You will work with volunteers, prepare ingredients, monitor temps, and keep the work area clean while collaborating with a dedicated team.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, culinary training is a plus, and 1–3 years in a kitchen; ServSafe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Culinary training or coursework in food preparation, nutrition, or a related field is a plus.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification preferred or must be obtained within a specified period after hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for recipes.
• Engage with and direct volunteers in a task.
• Actively communicate progress and needs to supervisor and team members.
• Take responsibility for assigned tasks and ensure timely completion.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment and work and storage areas.
• Champion teamwork through words and actions and seek ways to support teammates.
• Other tasks as assigned.
