Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (minimum age in California locations is 18).
• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive shopping experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with customers and teammates.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team.
• Flexible schedule throughout the temporary assignment based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Help customers locate materials, apparel, gifts, and supplies.
• Operate the POS to process transactions including cash, credit, and financial aid purchases.
• Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and stocked through merchandising and housekeeping.
• Assist with inventory, receiving, order fulfillment, and other tasks to keep the store ready for customers.
• Develop product knowledge about merchandise, promotions, and services.
• Collaborate with teammates to meet daily priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute to a safe and welcoming store environment reflecting the Barnes & Noble College brand.
