Job summary

Seattle University is seeking a part-time Production Support/Maintenance role with hybrid work eligibility. The position focuses on designing and maintaining office reporting from the ERP system, supporting the Student Financial Services Office, and implementing workarounds as needed.

The role also covers project, upgrade, and business-support activities, including documenting requirements, testing, and user training. Minimum qualifications include a MIS/CS degree and ERP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or a closely related field and two years of applicable work experience, or a minimum of five years of applicable work experience in one or more of the major duties.
  • Strong knowledge of database concepts, project management, analysis, and system troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop, train, and mentor peers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines.
  • Desktop PC, ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Production Support: Design, maintain, and improve office reporting solutions; support students/parents/staff in Student Financial Services; implement workarounds as needed; know business processes; serve as an application expert and backup.
  • Project Support: Gather, analyze, document requirements; coordinate with ITS; focus on test cycles; create test plans and scripts; execute tests and document results.
  • Upgrade Support: Analyze software releases; create test conditions and scripts; perform testing; ensure user acceptance.
  • Business Support: Assist users, provide updates, conduct training for new applications; assess capabilities and higher-level requirements.
  • Operations Support: Participate in annual planning; run jobs and reports; understand academic and aid cycles.

Position Description

Production Support (Maintenance) 55% Design, maintain, and effect office reporting solutions from both in and outside the scope of the ERP database. Support the enterprise system by responding to issues affecting the students/parents/staff/ units supported by the Student Financial Services Office. Assist in the implementation of "workarounds" when system issues affect business needs. Maintain in-depth knowledge of business processes in the Student Financial Services Office. Function as an application expert in the Student Financial Services Office Production support backup including completion of some routine jobs.

Project Support (New systems, Modifications, Business Process Improvement) 20% Serve as an integrated student service system expert, with understanding of the business requirements and how Colleague supports business processes in Financial Aid and Student Accounts, including workflow. Work on projects to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and work with ITS staff to translate into technical requirements, with significant emphasis on the test cycle, including the creation and execution of test plans, as well as testing and documenting results. Identify, define, and document business process and application requirements to assist in creating business process flows for proposed system changes.

Upgrade Support (Software bundles, releases, upgrades) 10% In coordination with the Associate Director for Systems and Technology: Analyze software releases for testing necessity. Create test conditions. Create test scripts. Perform testing as OIT requires. Report defects to OIT staff in a timely fashion. See upgrades to completion, including responsibility for User Acceptance sign off.

Business Support 10% Assist users in understanding systems. Provide management system updates. Provide updates at user informational sessions and user group conferences. Work with business units to assess current capabilities and identify high-level requirements. Provide end user training, including updates for new and changed applications.

Operations Support 5% Participate in annual planning and setup. Gain and maintain an overall understanding of the elements comprising the annual cycle (academic year, aid year, fiscal year). Run jobs and reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five or more years experience working in a Financial Aid office, preferably in a private university environment. Prior experience using the Ellucian Colleague ERP, SQL reporting experience, and/or ImageNow system.

Compensation at a Glance $36.20 per hour Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
