Job summary

Axle is seeking a temporary Bone and Matrix Scientist to join the NIH NICHD team at Bethesda, MD, supporting research on bone tissue and cell development. The role combines planning, design, and execution of experiments with independent data analysis and reporting.

The candidate will perform molecular and cellular biology techniques, mouse work, and assay development, while contributing to publications and scientific presentations; safety and notebook integrity are emphasized.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Physiology, Cell Biology, or closely related discipline.
Ph.D. strongly preferred in Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, and conduct complex research experiments in bone biology and cell development.
Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, RT-qPCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid purification.
Conduct mammalian, primary and bacterial cultures; perform transfections and related procedures.
Analyze data, prepare reports, abstracts, and manuscripts for publication.
Train staff on laboratory practices and safety; maintain accurate electronic lab notebooks.
